On December 1, 2025, Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (MOL) celebrated the 30th anniversary of its seafarer manning company in India, MOL Maritime (India) Pvt. Ltd. (MOLMI). The event, held in Mumbai, was attended by senior MOL executives, including Senior Managing Executive Officer Mitsuhisa Tanimoto, who delivered a speech praising MOLMI’s significant contributions to maritime services over the past three decades.
Founded in 1995, MOLMI has evolved from traditional seafarer manning services to a comprehensive maritime solutions provider, offering seafarer training and conducting ship inspections. This expansion underscores MOLMI’s role as a leader in training skilled maritime professionals, particularly in operating vessels powered by alternative fuels. Currently, more than 100 maritime specialists from MOLMI serve within MOL and related companies, also supplying talent for onshore positions.
The anniversary ceremony included a video presentation tracing MOLMI’s journey and showcased messages of appreciation from MOL Headquarters and various ship management partners globally. Awards were given to both seafarers and onshore staff, while the event featured cultural performances organized by MOLMI employees.
In a video message, MOL’s President & CEO Takeshi Hashimoto expressed gratitude for MOLMI’s contributions to safe maritime operations. He emphasized the ongoing need for high-quality seafarers and onshore experts as the industry evolves.
MOLMI places a strong emphasis on human resource development and promotes Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DE&I) as pivotal to its growth strategy. Recently, MOLMI participated in the Maritime SheEO Conference 2025 in Mumbai, an initiative aimed at empowering women in the maritime field, with 20 women seafarers from MOLMI engaging in discussions to enhance women’s representation in the industry.
Looking forward, the MOL Group commits to ongoing initiatives in India and other key seafarer-supplying nations, aiming to strengthen community ties and foster regional development while promoting a culture of safety. These efforts align with MOL’s broader sustainability goals, emphasizing the importance of supporting both seafarers and the communities in which they operate. Through sustained investment in talent development and community relations, MOL seeks to ensure its leadership position in a rapidly changing maritime landscape.
