Brunei navy commander visits Singapore, reaffirms bilateral defense relationship

The Commander of the Royal Brunei Navy (RBN) First Admiral (FADM) Dato Seri Pahlawan Spry bin Haji Serudi @ Haji Seruji called on Minister for Defense Dr Ng Eng Hen at the Ministry of Defense (MINDEF) March 31. During their meeting, Ng and Spry reaffirmed the close and long-standing bilateral defense relationship between Singapore and Brunei.

Spry, who was in Singapore from 29 March to 1 April 2022 for his introductory visit, also called on Chief of Defense Force Lieutenant-General Melvyn Ong and inspected the Guard of Honor at MINDEF.

As part of his visit, Spry visited RSS Singapura – Changi Naval Base, where he called on Chief of Navy Rear-Admiral Aaron Beng and was briefed on the conduct of operations and capabilities of the Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN)’s Sentinel-class Maritime Security and Response Vessels (MSRV), on board the MSRV Bastion.

Spry’s visit underscores the close and long-standing bilateral defense relations between Singapore and Brunei. The RSN and the RBN interact regularly through bilateral exercises and passage exercises such as Exercise Pelican, cross-attendance of courses, professional exchanges and visits. These regular interactions have enhanced cooperation and deepened mutual understanding between both navies, and strengthened people-to-people ties between personnel.
