Check Point Software Technologies has appointed Ruma Balasubramanian as the new President for the Asia Pacific and Japan (APAC) region, following the departure of Sharat Sinha earlier this year. Balasubramanian will oversee the company’s operations across APAC, working closely with various departments including sales, marketing, product engineering, and customer success. Her key objective will be to foster growth through strategic partnerships and the implementation of advanced AI-driven security solutions.
Balasubramanian brings a wealth of experience from her previous roles, notably at Google Cloud, where she was responsible for managing high-growth sectors throughout the APAC region. She also served as Vice President and Chief Transformation Officer at Cisco, overseeing their business endeavors in Asia Pacific, Japan, and Greater China. Her extensive background also includes significant positions at Hewlett Packard Enterprise Services, AT Kearney, and IBM.
In addition to her new role at Check Point, Balasubramanian currently acts as an Independent Director for RightShip, a digital platform focused on environmental, social, and governance (ESG) issues in the maritime sector. Here, she chairs the Digital Transformation and Cyber Security Committee, further showcasing her expertise in cybersecurity and digital transformation.
Sherif Seddik from Check Point expressed enthusiasm about Balasubramanian joining the management team, highlighting her credentials in customer transformation and partner development. He believes her leadership will be instrumental in addressing the growing demand for cybersecurity solutions in the region. Seddik also acknowledged the contributions of Sharat Sinha to Check Point’s APAC business and expressed best wishes for his future endeavors.
Under Balasubramanian’s leadership, Check Point aims to leverage innovative technology and strategic alliances to enhance its market presence in the competitive cybersecurity landscape of the APAC region. The emphasis will be on responding to the escalating need for robust cybersecurity measures as businesses continue to face new challenges in today’s digital ecosystem.
