Ambassador Christian Lyster joined the Norwegian foreign service in 2005, and initially worked in the Legal Affairs Department. Through the years, he served in leadership roles in several sections within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Oslo: as director of the Section for the Security and Emergency Preparedness (2015 to 2022) and as deputy director in the Department for Security Policy and the High North (2013 to 2015).
Prior to his posting in Manila, His Excellency was also posted as the first secretary of the Norwegian Embassy in Copenhagen, Denmark (2009 to 2012), and as the deputy head of mission at the Norwegian Embassy in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia (2007 to 2009). Ambassador Lyster also previously served as police prosecutor and deputy judge in Norway (2000 to 2005).
Ambassador Lyster finished his legal studies at the University of Edinburgh (2000) and received his Master of Laws at the University of Oslo (1999). He has also attended the Officer Candidates School of the Norwegian Armed Forces Engineer Corps (1992 to 1993), and Senior Executive Course at the Norwegian Defense University College (2018). His Excellency currently resides in Manila with his wife and daughter.
