Commander of the U.S. Indo-Pacific Command (INDOPACOM), Admiral (ADM) John C. Aquilino, called on Minister for Defense Dr Ng Eng Hen at the Ministry of Defense (MINDEF) July 19. During their meeting, Dr Ng and ADM Aquilino reaffirmed the long-standing and multi-faceted defense partnership between Singapore and the U.S., and discussed initiatives to strengthen the trust and cooperation between the Singapore Armed Forces and the U.S. INDOPACOM moving forward.

ADM Aquilino, who was in Singapore from July 18 to 20 2021 for his introductory visit, also called on Chief of Defense Force Lieutenant-General Melvyn Ong and reviewed a Guard of Honor prior to calling on Dr Ng. ADM Aquilino visited the Counter-Terrorism Information Facility later.

ADM Aquilino’s visit underscores the excellent defense relations between Singapore and the U.S. The two defense establishments interact regularly through bilateral and multilateral exercises, high-level visits, professional exchanges and cross-attendance of courses. These mutually beneficial interactions have enhanced the professionalism of both armed forces, deepened mutual understanding and forged strong camaraderie between their personnel.
