Dato Mohamed Suffian Awang, born in 1971 in Kuantan, Pahang, is the chairman of the Maritime Institute of Malaysia (MIMA). He is also an advocate, solicitor and consultant with Azam Baba Aqmar & Associates. He graduated from the Mara University of Technology (UiTM) with a LL.B (Hons).

Dato Mohamed was the political secretary to a former prime minister of Malaysia and a former special officer to the Malaysian Special Envoy (ministerial rank) to the United States from 2013 to 2015.
