Chief Representative, Naval & Special Ship Marketing, Southeast Asia Hanwha Ocean

John Park is chief representative, naval and special ship marketing, Southeast Asia, at Hanwha Ocean, formerly known as Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering, one of the biggest shipbuilders in South Korea. Hanwha Ocean specializes in building various vessels, offshore platforms, drilling rigs, floating production storage and offloading (FPSO), floating production unit (FPU), submarines, and destroyers.

John is currently based in Jakarta, Indonesia, and lead the team working with the Indonesian government’s Ministry of Defense on submarine projects. Hanwha started its exporting submarine hold maintenance business to Indonesia in 2004. In 2011, the company signed an agreement to build three naval submarines and successfully delivered them in March 2021.

John joined the company in December 2002 after having graduated from university, and has worked in sales, planning and marketing. He has experience operating in the Asian and American markets, including the United States, Canada, Brazil, Tokyo and China.

John studied naval architecture at Inha University, and has served two-year mandatory military service at the South Korean Navy.
