Kaiko Systems helps Tanker Operators navigate OCIMF’s FIC campaign

Kaiko Systems, the leading digital compliance and readiness platform for the maritime sector, is supporting tanker operators in meeting the requirements of the Focused Inspection Campaign (FIC) launched by the Oil Companies International Marine Forum (OCIMF). The six-month global initiative, part of the SIRE 2.0 programme, aims to verify that crews are familiar with security procedures and that vessels are effectively hardened against maritime threats.

The company, which provides its own digital platform used by tanker operators to standardise onboard inspections and track operational risk, has integrated the FIC requirements directly into its app. Operators using the Kaiko systems app have reported noticeable improvements in crew familiarity and consistency across vessels, pointing to stronger inspection readiness.

“The Kaiko platform helps embed readiness into daily routines,” said Nick Vaughan, Head of Maritime at Kaiko. “With real-time visibility on crew checks and system status, operators can act fast and stay ahead of issues that impact inspection outcomes.”

The OCIMF campaign, which began on 1 October 2025, requires inspectors to assess vessel hardening and access control measures on every inspection, regardless of the vessel’s location or route. As geopolitical risks escalate and regulatory expectations tighten, the campaign highlights the growing need for structured, technology-driven approaches to inspection readiness.

The Kaiko Systems platform is being used not only to streamline the documentation and execution of daily checks but also to pinpoint gaps in understanding and performance. The company is providing support to shipowners during the campaign through onboard crew training, configuration of SIRE-aligned templates, and fleet-level analytics.

“We fully support OCIMF’s latest campaign. It’s not just about ticking compliance boxes, it’s about building real operational resilience,” said Mr Vaughan. “The real challenge for shipowners is maintaining a consistent level of security preparedness every day, not just when an inspection is due.”

An interim review of the campaign is scheduled for February 2026, with OCIMF expected to analyse data across the global fleet and potentially update best practice guidance based on emerging trends.
