KBR is launching a five-year work program and a data-driven supply chain plan to support the Royal Australian Navy’s (RAN) maritime sustainment strategy. According to Nic Maan, Vice President of Australia Defence and Security Solutions, this initiative emphasizes robust capability stewardship and promotes collaboration, ensuring that the RAN can fulfill its obligations to the Government effectively.
At the core of this strategy are the Capability Life Cycle Managers (CLCM), who play a crucial role in enhancing fleet availability and ensuring cost-effective sustainment. They focus on developing sovereign capabilities, fostering improved collaboration with industry partners, and preparing the fleet for future challenges. The CLCMs are integral to the Maritime Sustainment Model, a component of Defence’s new national approach to sustaining naval assets.
Maan highlights the significance of the plans developed by the KBR team, noting that these achievements come just months into their CLCM contract. He emphasizes that the plans offer substantial value by providing a long-term perspective on the sustainment needs of the fleet. This foresight aims to enhance operational readiness and logistical planning for the RAN.
KBR assumed the role of Capability Life Cycle Manager for the Navy’s Amphibious fleet in July 2024. The company has dedicated a team based at Fleet Base East in Garden Island, enhancing its operational presence and capacity to meet the Navy’s requirements effectively. This collaboration positions both KBR and the RAN for success, ensuring the sustainability and superiority of Australia’s maritime capabilities in the years ahead.
