Marlink Fortifies Cyber Security Offer With Port-IT

Marlink Strengthens Cybersecurity Solutions Through Port-IT Partnership

Marlink has acquired Port-IT, a prominent provider of cyber security solutions for the maritime sector, enhancing its capabilities in this crucial area. Port-IT, based in Rhoon, Netherlands, is well-positioned near key ports such as Amsterdam, Rotterdam, and Antwerp and serves a vast customer base of 7,000 vessels through its Security Operations Centers (SOCs) in Rhoon and Bangkok. This acquisition also complements Marlink’s existing cyber security services through Diverto, which recently became part of the Marlink group.

To address the rising demand for cyber security expertise in maritime and other sectors, Marlink will establish a dedicated cyber security unit that combines the strengths of Port-IT, Diverto, and its own existing capabilities. This unit will consist of a team of 130 professionals, all certified in cyber security and experienced in sectors like maritime, energy, humanitarian, and critical infrastructure. Additionally, the new unit will operate four SOCs across Europe, Asia, and the Americas, ensuring global support and innovation.

Marlink’s CEO, Erik Ceuppens, emphasized the strategic alignment of this acquisition with the company’s goal to become a trusted partner in managing cyber security risks for customers in remote locations. He noted that the integration of Port-IT’s resources with those of Diverto and Marlink would yield a comprehensive portfolio of cyber security services and support, essential for tackling the increasing threats in the digital landscape.

To further engage with stakeholders, Marlink will host a free micro-conference on November 13 in New Orleans, focusing on new U.S. Coast Guard cyber security regulations and their implications for maritime operators. The event will feature a moderated discussion with experts, including USCG RADM Wayne Arguin, alongside representatives from Marlink, ABS, and Harvey Gulf.

Overall, this strategic acquisition not only bolsters Marlink’s commitment to cyber security in the maritime industry but also positions it as a leader in addressing the evolving cyber risks faced by organizations operating in challenging environments. The combination of expertise and resources from Port-IT and Diverto underlines Marlink’s ambition to provide best-in-class services in a critical area of digital infrastructure security.
