Port of Tanjung Pelepas (PTP), a joint venture between Malaysian based MMC Group and Hague based APM Terminals has been selected to be part of the Partnerships for Infrastructure (P4I), a government to government (G2G) project between Malaysia and Australia that aims to spearhead the country’s decarbonizing effort in the maritime industry and to foster inclusive growth through sustainable infrastructure in Southeast Asia.
The news was shared during Malaysia Maritime Week 2023.
Tan Sri Che Khalib Mohamad Noh, PTP Chairman in a statement shared that PTP is delighted to be part of the project, aspiring to foster inclusive growth through sustainable infrastructure in Southeast Asia and especially in Malaysia.
“PTP is committed to assist Malaysia’s effort in decarbonizing the country’s maritime industry and therefore catalyzing Malaysia’s and global commitments.”
Marco Neelsen, PTP CEO echoed the sentiment by stating that PTP is honored to be recognized by both Malaysia and Australia government for our commitment to sustainability.
“We relish this opportunity to work closely with both parties, especially through the Partnerships for Infrastructure (P4I) project team and hope that a successful implementation of this initiative will become a game changer in transforming the maritime industry in Malaysia.

As Malaysia’s leading transhipment terminal and amongst the world’s busiest ports, PTP take pride in trailblazing the steps of sustainability.
During the event, PTP had also received the recognition by the Marine Department of Malaysia to pilot a special project in Malaysia through the Green Tug and Pilot Boat initiatives.
With existing comprehensive decarbonization roadmap already in place, PTP received the recognition to be the sole port operator to pilot the project in Malaysia through the Green Tug and Pilot Boat initiatives after PTP had successfully completed all the requirement set forth by both Malaysia government via the Ministry of Transport (MOT) and by International Maritime Organization (IMO) respectively.
The announcement was made by Marine Department’s Task Force GV2050 during their presentation of Report of the Implementation of GV2050 in Malaysia (Phase 1) to Capt Hj Mohamad Halim Ahmed, Director General of the Marine Department of Malaysia.
