The Singapore Mariners’ Club (SMC) is currently closed for redevelopment, which is expected to be completed by 2027. As a result, the hotel rooms at the Maritime House are unavailable until the project is finished. Seafarers visiting Singapore can book accommodations directly with other hotels in the city during this period. The SMC, located at 120 Cantonment Road near the port and Central Business District, serves as a home away from home for seafarers from various nationalities.
The SMC offers a range of recreational activities for seafarers, including sports like futsal and bowling, educational journeys to local attractions, and celebrations like the Day of the Seafarer. Feedback on the club can be provided via a feedback form.
Accommodation Rates
The room rates at SMC are structured as follows:
- Single occupancy: SGD $101.65
- Double occupancy: SGD $117.70
- Triple occupancy: SGD $128.40 (includes a rollaway bed)
All rooms are equipped with single beds, Wi-Fi, and cable television. Rates are subject to change based on the stay duration and applicable government taxes, which include a 10% service charge. It’s important to note that SMC reserves the right to correct or cancel reservations based on incorrect rate postings.
Eligibility and Check-In Requirements
To check in, guests must be active seafarers over 18 years of age with a valid seafarer identity document. Immediate family members (spouse, children, parents) may stay with the seafarers, provided they are accompanied throughout the visit. Check-in time is from 2:00 PM, while check-out is by noon the next day. Guests arriving early can store their luggage at the reception, and late check-out can be arranged based on availability, subject to additional charges.
Payment and Cancellation Policies
A cash deposit of SGD $100 per night or valid credit card is required upon check-in for incidentals. SMC accepts various credit cards but does not accept debit cards. Reservations require confirmation 24 hours before arrival; cancellations or changes made within this time will incur a fee equivalent to one night’s charge.
House Rules
SMC maintains a strict policy against gatherings, smoking, gambling, loud music, and cooking to ensure a comfortable atmosphere. Any damages to the rooms must be reported immediately; failure to do so may result in charges for repairs or replacements. Additionally, reservations are non-transferable and cannot have name changes.
General Terms
By proceeding with reservations, guests consent to SMC handling their personal data for customer relationship management and regulatory compliance purposes. The terms and conditions of stay are subject to change without prior notice, and reservations will be governed by Singapore law.
In summary, while the Maritime House undergoes redevelopment, the SMC continues to serve seafarers through alternative accommodations and organized activities, ensuring they feel welcomed and supported during their time in Singapore.
