The Singapore Maritime Foundation (SMF) and Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL) November 27 signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to enhance cooperation in developing a talent pipeline for the maritime industry through the MaritimeONE Scholarship Program.
Under this partnership, MOL aims to offer at least two MaritimeONE Scholarships (including applicable overseas exchange program) per year over a three-year period from 2025 – 2027. SMF will drive and market the MaritimeONE Scholarships targeted at the talent pool in Singapore’s public institutes of higher learning.
“On behalf of the Singapore Maritime Foundation Board, I thank MOL for sharing in our collective mission to attract, engage and grow a maritime-ready talent pool. I am confident that this MOU is the start of deeper and sustained cooperation between both organizations for the collective good of Maritime Singapore,” said Hor Weng Yew, chairman, Singapore Maritime Foundation.
“MOL group’s initiatives for human capital closely aligns with SMF’s mission statement, both in promoting talent, manpower and innovation in the maritime industry. In signing this MOU with SMF, we make clear our intent to honor our commitment, to enhance maritime human capital in Singapore,” said Jotaro Tamura, senior managing executive officer, MOL.
