Currently, Fengshen is moving westward at about 20 kph and is anticipated to strengthen in the following hours.
From Sunday onward, strong winds are expected to affect the northeastern portion of the East Vietnam Sea. Winds in this area could reach 39 to 88 kph, gusting up to 103 to 117 kph, accompanied by significant waves between 2.5 to 5 meters high, resulting in hazardous sea conditions. The period between Monday and Wednesday will be especially perilous, as the northern area of the East Vietnam Sea, including Vietnam’s Hoang Sa (Paracel) Special Zone, could experience wind speeds escalating to 89 to 117 kph, with gusts as high as 134 to 149 kph. Authorities have issued warnings for vessels in these regions regarding thunderstorms, strong winds, and large waves.
The national weather agency has indicated that after Fengshen enters the East Vietnam Sea, its path may initially trend northwest but is likely to shift sharply southward. This unpredictable movement is attributed to the arrival of a northeast monsoon, which could not only alter the storm’s trajectory but potentially weaken its intensity. However, the forecasters cautioned that the interaction of the storm with a cold air mass could lead to complex and extreme weather conditions. Consequently, residents and seafarers are urged to remain vigilant and stay updated through official weather bulletins.
