Hoa Phat signs contract to supply 1,000 Container shells to VIMC Lines

Hoa Phat Secures Contract for 1,000 Container Shells with VIMC Lines

Hoa Phat Group has recently entered into a significant contract with VIMC Container Transport JSC (VIMC Lines), a subsidiary of the Vietnam Maritime Corporation (VIMC), to supply 1,000 container shells. This agreement marks the first collaboration between Hoa Phat and VIMC Lines, and the third between Hoa Phat and VIMC, showcasing the company’s robust manufacturing capabilities and the quality of Vietnammade containers.

The strategic partnership aims to support VIMC Lines’ expansion of its fleet, with the objective of establishing itself as a leading container transport enterprise in Vietnam. Key figures at the signing ceremony included Mr. Doan Quang Thinh, Director of Hoa Phat’s container division, and Ms. Do Thi Ngoc Trang, CEO of VIMC Lines, who highlighted the mutual benefits of this collaboration.

Under the terms of the contract, Hoa Phat is set to manufacture and deliver a total of 1,000 containers—half of which will be 20-foot dry containers, while the other half will consist of 40-foot high-cube containers. The delivery is scheduled to commence in June 2025, ensuring that VIMC Lines can meet peak operational demands.

VIMC Lines representatives underscored the importance of this investment in new containers, emphasizing their commitment to enhancing operational capacity and improving supply chain efficiency to ensure reliable services for both domestic and international clients. The partnership with Hoa Phat is part of a broader strategy to select long-term partners for mutually beneficial growth.

Mr. Doan Quang Thinh expressed confidence in Hoa Phat’s capabilities, citing a modern production system with stringent quality control processes and a self-sufficient supply chain for raw materials. This positions the company to deliver products that meet international standards while addressing the specific operational needs of VIMC Lines.

Looking ahead to 2025, Hoa Phat anticipates continued growth in orders from domestic partners, which is expected to stabilize production. The container manufacturing facility currently produces 500,000 TEUs annually and is recognized as the largest container manufacturer in both Vietnam and Southeast Asia.

A significant advantage for Hoa Phat lies in its self-sufficiency in producing high-quality weather-resistant hot-rolled coil (HRC) steel, sourced from its Dung Quat Iron and Steel Complex. The company intends to localize 90-95% of its input materials by 2025, a move that is anticipated to reduce costs and enhance stability in production.

Moreover, Hoa Phat is investing in research and development to optimize container components in alignment with global trends, contributing to competitive pricing and sustainable production efforts.

This contract solidifies Hoa Phat’s position in the high-quality container supply chain of Vietnam and enhances its credibility among major transport companies. It also represents a significant step in Hoa Phat’s ambition to expand within the logistics market, focusing on sustainable development and improved competitiveness.

Both Hoa Phat and VIMC Lines foresee a promising future for their partnership, driven by a shared commitment to leveraging the potential of the maritime transport sector for growth.
