The Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) has recently accredited 27 shipyards throughout Nigeria as part of its mandate to regulate and enforce operational standards in the maritime sector. This initiative is rooted in the NIMASA Act of 2007 and the Merchant Shipping Act of the same year, which grant NIMASA the authority to license and monitor shipyard activities across the nation.
Among the newly accredited facilities, 10 are located in Lagos State, 8 in Rivers State, and 9 in Delta State.
