Dataran Elektra Named First PETRONAS-Licensed Agent for FUELTRAX in Malaysia

FUELTRAX, a leading provider of electronic fuel monitoring systems (EFMS), has entered into a partnership with Dataran Elektra to meet the increasing demand for fuel monitoring solutions in Malaysia. As the first PETRONAS-licensed agent for FUELTRAX, Dataran Elektra will facilitate the purchase of FUELTRAX systems for clients who are required to buy from licensed entities.

The expansion is aimed at supporting the projected growth of the FUELTRAX fleet in Malaysia, which is expected to encompass 15 to 20 offshore support vessels (OSVs) by 2019. This increase in fleet size is driven by the need for improved transparency in fuel consumption, compliance, and reporting, particularly due to stricter mandates from oil companies. Dataran Elektra is also an approved installation and commissioning partner, streamlining the process of integrating FUELTRAX systems into the local market.

The collaboration began last year, and Dataran Elektra technicians are currently undergoing specialized training at the FUELTRAX facility in Houston. This training enables them to provide comprehensive services, including local procurement, installation, and commissioning of FUELTRAX systems.

FUELTRAX’s Global Operations Director, John Donovan, emphasized the importance of partnering with competent teams that align with their commitment to high-quality client support. He praised Dataran Elektra’s record in the oil and gas sector and anticipates exploring various opportunities within the Malaysian market.

Since its founding in 2004, FUELTRAX has deployed its solutions on roughly 500 vessels globally, serving over 150 vessels under oil company charters. The company continues to set the standard for EFMS worldwide, particularly as the demand grows in regions including Asia, West Africa, and South America. CEO Anthony George highlighted the advantages of FUELTRAX systems, noting that the transparency of fuel data enables clients to make informed operational decisions, ultimately leading to cost savings and improved compliance.

The onboard system of FUELTRAX provides real-time monitoring of fuel activity, with data being GPS-stamped and updated every 15 minutes to the FUELNET online portal. This feature allows customers to track vessel operations effectively. With over 15 years of experience in the field, FUELTRAX has achieved a system uptime of 99%, ensuring that no vessels have been off-hired due to system failures.

In summary, the partnership between FUELTRAX and Dataran Elektra aims to enhance fuel management capabilities in Malaysia, contributing to the growth of the offshore support vessel fleet and promoting operational efficiency and compliance within the region.
