Check Point® Software Technologies Ltd., a prominent provider of AI-powered cybersecurity solutions, has appointed Ruma Balasubramanian as the new President for the Asia Pacific & Japan (APAC) region. She succeeds Sharat Sinha, who transitioned to another industry role earlier this year. In her new position, Ruma will oversee Check Point’s operations across APAC, working in tandem with sales, marketing, product engineering, and customer success teams to bolster the company’s growth.
Ruma brings a wealth of experience in cloud and digital transformation to her role. Previously, she held leadership positions at Google Cloud, where she managed high-growth segments within the APAC region. Additionally, she has served as Vice President and Chief Transformation Officer for Cisco’s business across Asia Pacific, Japan, and Greater China. Her extensive background includes significant roles at Hewlett Packard Enterprise Services, AT Kearney, and IBM, providing her with valuable insights into scaling technology solutions and expanding markets.
Ruma is also dedicated to fostering inclusive teams and advocating for women in technology. She currently serves as an Independent Director for RightShip, a digital maritime platform focused on environmental, social, and governance (ESG) initiatives, where she chairs the Digital Transformation and Cyber Security Committee.
Upon her appointment, Ruma expressed enthusiasm about joining Check Point during a pivotal time in the cybersecurity landscape. She emphasized the increasing sophistication of cyber threats and the necessity for organizations to partner with a leader in the cybersecurity realm to enhance their security measures through AI, data, and cloud innovations.
