The IMANI Center for Policy & Education has partnered with the Maritime Anti-Corruption Network (MACN) as part of the Ghana Collective Action initiative, which aims to bolster transparency, integrity, and operational effectiveness within Ghana’s maritime and port sector. This collaboration leverages IMANI’s extensive experience in governance, policy analysis, and maritime research.
A significant aspect of IMANI’s contribution is rooted in its 2017 assessment of the Port of Tema, which has served as a vital reference for industry stakeholders examining operational inefficiencies and potential reforms in Ghana’s ports. The partnership will see IMANI providing data-driven research and engaging in policy advocacy focused on evidence-based reforms to enhance governance and institutional integrity in the maritime sector.
The initiative follows a collective action model, uniting public and private sector stakeholders to collaboratively address ethical and operational challenges throughout the maritime value chain. IMANI President Franklin Cudjoe expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration, highlighting IMANI’s commitment to supporting Ghana’s maritime community through credible research, robust stakeholder engagement, and meaningful policy reform. He emphasized the organization’s readiness to tackle the integrity and efficiency issues facing the sector.
IMANI anticipates close collaboration with MACN and other relevant parties to devise practical solutions aimed at strengthening port integrity and enhancing operational efficiency in Ghana’s maritime industry. This partnership is expected to pave the way for significant improvements in how the sector operates, ensuring it meets both national and international standards for transparency and effectiveness.
