Tacotel, the management of the Takoradi Container Terminal Limited, has committed to providing prompt and efficient delivery of containers from Takoradi Port to its terminal in Sekondi within 48 hours. This initiative is part of their broader strategy to align with standard operational protocols and enhance service delivery. Central to this effort is a dedicated commercial team, which aims to bolster the company’s standing within the export and import value chain.
During an interview with the Ghana News Agency, TACOTEL’s Commercial Manager, Mr. Kobina Otoo, expressed confidence in the company’s growing customer service capabilities. He emphasized that these enhancements are designed to attract new customers and encouraged businesses to engage with TACOTEL for their logistical needs. Mr. Otoo extended his gratitude to the commercial team, management, and shareholders for their collective efforts that led to TACOTEL being recognized as the Terminal Operator of the Year during the 2022 Western Regional Business Awards.
In addition to improving service delivery, TACOTEL is actively involved in port expansion projects in collaboration with its parent company, Ibistek, and the Ghana Ports and Harbour Authority (GPHA). These initiatives are envisioned to enhance operational capacity and facilitate future growth for both the Western Region and the country as a whole.
Mr. Otoo also addressed safety measures, particularly regarding the handling of dangerous cargoes, which have raised concerns following incidents like the Appiatse explosion. He noted that GPHA is making adjustments to ensure that such hazardous materials will be cleared directly from the port, bypassing TACOTEL to mitigate risks associated with their transportation.
