Ultranav Expands Collaboration with ShipIn Systems to Strengthen AI-Enabled Safety and Navigation Risk Management

Ultranav, a Chile-based maritime group managing more than 400 vessels, is expanding its collaboration with ShipIn Systems to scale AI-enabled safety and navigation risk management across its operations.

The collaboration reflects Ultranav’s ongoing focus on safety and its interest in using technology to better understand operational risk during everyday vessel operations.

As part of the collaboration, Ultranav deployed FleetVision, integrating the platform’s Bridge, Safety, and Technical modules with existing onboard camera systems. The deployment was designed to complement Ultranav’s established safety management practices by providing earlier visibility into operational risk during normal vessel operations, rather than relying solely on incident-driven reviews.

FleetVision provides ship and shore teams with structured insight into bridge activity, onboard safety practices, and technical conditions, supporting more informed discussions and coordination between vessel crews and onshore HSQES and technical teams.

“By running the pilot within a single business unit, we were able to test FleetVision against the realities of our operating profile,” said Capt. Alfredo Mella, Head of HSQES & Vetting Department, Ultranav. “That approach helped us understand where the platform adds value in everyday operations and how it could be scaled responsibly across additional vessels.”

During deployment, Ultranav observed strong safety and operational signals that reinforced the value of having clearer, more consistent visibility into how work is performed on board. The additional insight helped teams identify patterns earlier, focus attention on higher-risk activities, and support safer day-to-day decision-making without changing established operating routines.

“The value for us was in how FleetVision supported a more consistent and structured view of operational risk,” said Felipe Alberto Carrillo, Senior Manager and Head of Insurance, Ultranav. “That visibility helps strengthen risk assessment, supports clearer discussions with operational teams, and improves how risk is managed across the fleet.”

ShipIn’s FleetVision platform uses AI and computer vision to analyse onboard video and provide operational insight across navigation, safety, and technical areas. The platform is designed to fit naturally into existing vessel environments and support organizations that want to enhance safety through better visibility and understanding of risk.

“Across the industry, operators are exploring how digital visibility can support long-term safety and operational resilience,” said Osher Perry, CEO and Founder of ShipIn Systems.  “Ultranav’s expansion reflects a thoughtful approach to using AI to strengthen safety management across complex, high-volume operations.”

Ultranav will continue working with ShipIn to review FleetVision insights as part of its broader safety culture initiatives and fleet risk management.
