The Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways (MoPSW) is set to host Maritime Week 2025 (IMW 2025) from October 27 to 31, 2025, in Mumbai. This event is anticipated to be the largest global maritime gathering, reflecting a significant opportunity for the maritime ecosystem to converge under the theme “Uniting Oceans, One Maritime Vision.” The aim is to position India as a global maritime hub and a frontrunner in the Blue Economy.
IMW 2025 will attract a high-level international presence, with ministers from 11 countries and their respective industry delegations participating in various sessions. This demonstrates the increasing global interest in India’s maritime sector. Union Minister for Ports, Shipping & Waterways, Sarbananda Sonowal, emphasized that the event will not only showcase India as a maritime hub but will also promote sustainable shipping practices and enhance international trade and connectivity.
The gathering is expected to attract over 100,000 delegates, with confirmed participation from more than 85 countries. Additionally, major global maritime industry leaders, international organizations, and policy think tanks will be integral to the discussions. The presence of several state ministers and Lieutenant Governors will highlight investment opportunities and regional strengths, further stimulating the maritime discourse.
IMW 2025 will feature a robust program with over 350 international speakers and more than 600 Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) anticipated, collectively surpassing Rs. 10 lakh crore in investment commitments. The format will include a comprehensive exhibition with over 400 exhibitors alongside an expansive conference schedule.
The event will host more than 12 flagship initiatives, including the 4th edition of the Global Maritime India Summit (GMIS 2025), the QUAD Ports of the Future Conference, and various dialogues such as Sagarmanthan – The Great Oceans Dialogue and the SheEO Conference. It will also feature sessions dedicated to individual countries such as Norway, Netherlands, Denmark, and Sweden, as well as state/UT-specific sessions representing regions like Gujarat, Maharashtra, Kerala, and more.
