Nikkiso Clean Energy & Industrial Gases Group (Nikkiso CE&IG) has formed a strategic service partnership with Exion Asia to create its first marine hub in Southeast Asia, located in Singapore. This initiative aims to cater to the increasing demand for cryogenic equipment services in the marine sector. Singapore will act as Nikkiso’s Marine Hub for the region, providing crucial support for cryogenic pumps and related equipment utilized on marine vessels.
The partnership capitalizes on Exion Asia’s expansive network of 17 workshops throughout Southeast Asia, which includes three major facilities in Singapore and operations in Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Indonesia. Through this collaboration, Nikkiso will offer a range of services such as dry-docking maintenance, equipment upgrades, exchange programs, and emergency response. This aligns with Nikkiso’s global strategy to establish five marine hubs across the world.
Nikkiso has noted an uptick in demand for specialized aftermarket services as the marine industry progressively transitions towards lower-carbon fuels. This is particularly relevant for LNG carriers and other vessels employing cryogenic systems. Sean Fanniff, President of Nikkiso CE&IG’s Cryogenic Services Business Unit, emphasized the significance of Singapore as a vital global marine hub. He highlighted that the new partnership with Exion Asia enhances Nikkiso’s presence in Southeast Asia and enables the company to provide dependable, high-quality services. With over 1,400 cryogenic pumps installed on vessels globally, this hub will play a crucial role in delivering consistent service across the region.
Eugene Yap, Group Deputy Managing Director of Exion Asia, expressed pride in partnering with Nikkiso to meet the growing demand for cryogenic equipment services within the marine sector. The partnership aims to integrate Nikkiso’s expertise in cryogenic technology with Exion Asia’s regional service infrastructure and field support, facilitating quicker and more reliable assistance to fleet operators throughout Southeast Asia.
This strategic move is part of Nikkiso’s overarching plan to establish marine hubs in various global regions including Southeast Asia, Europe, the Middle East, the United States, and China, reflecting an intentional effort to enhance service delivery and support for advancing technologies in the marine industry.
