Ultra Maritime has secured a $49 million contract from the U.S. Navy for the production of Q62 Next Generation sonobuoys. This Sole Sourced Firm Fixed Price contract involves the AN/SSQ-62G Sonobuoy Low Rate Initial Production (LRIP), which will support various naval activities, including training, peacetime operations, and testing. The contract also aims to maintain an adequate inventory for major combat operations in line with naval munitions requirements.
Ed Cook, Vice President and General Manager of Ultra Maritime U.S., emphasized the importance of enhancing the safety of sailors and strengthening deterrence against threats in today’s maritime environment. He highlighted Ultra Maritime’s role as the sole qualified provider of the advanced Q-62 and Q-53 sonobuoys, crucial for bolstering anti-submarine warfare capabilities for the U.S. Navy and allied nations.
The company’s engineering and manufacturing teams are dedicated to rapidly designing, testing, and delivering a substantial number of sonobuoys each year, reinforcing global naval defense operations. Cook underscored the commitment to improving maritime security and ensuring safe international waters.
